What Is the PTPA Seal?

The Parent Tested Parent Approved platform is a “parent-based, family-oriented community that shares tips, gives feedback, and supports one another through various channels.” PTPA was founded to help facilitate word-of-mouth recommendations, allowing families to help other families make better purchasing decisions. It’s now North America’s largest parent testing community, leveraging an audience of more than 3,000 influencers and over 200,000 moms, dads, and caregivers.

The organization offers a prestigious award, the Parent Tested Parent Approved Seal of Approval. This award helps consumers make more informed buying decisions, as the household and lifestyle products that have won it have passed multiple tests. But unlike other awards that tend to be based on popularity, voting systems, or marketing efforts, the PTPA Seal is not easily earned.

The PTPA Seal Testing and Award Process

The PTPA seal indicates that the product has passed a rigorous testing and approval process from both the Parent Tested Parent Approved organization and the independent community of family testers.

In order for brands to receive this seal on one of their products, they must submit their product and be approved to even enter the process. PTPA then decides whether the product meets the criteria, ensuring that it’s a fit for their community of families.

If the product is approved to enter the evaluation system, PTPA then selects a group of families who fall within the brand’s target market to receive the product and test independently. The products are drop-shipped to the families, who fall across a wide range of demographics, including many single-parent households and diverse socioeconomic circumstances.

Once the testing families use the product, they complete a thorough survey about their experience, including a host of questions about product taste, texture, packaging, nutritional value, and quality. PTPA reviews these findings and provides valuable market research to the manufacturer. Finally, after carefully examining both score and sentiment, the organization then makes their decision on whether or not the product should receive the seal.
